He died on 5 June 1916 when his ship struck a mine and sank. He was 33.

The Rev Hatfeild Arthur William BACK
Chaplain, HMS Vanguard, Royal Navy.
He died on 9 July 1917 when the ship sank as a result of an explosion. He was 26.
He was the son of Ellen H Back, 5 Earlham Road, Norwich and the late Revd Arthur J Back of Carleton Rode Rectory, Norfolk

The Rev Guy Arrott BROWNING
Chaplain and Naval Instructor, HMS Indefatigable, Royal Navy.
He died on 31 May 1916 in  the Battle of Jutland. He was 39. 
He was the son of Capt G A Browning RN and M E Browning of Dawlish, Devon
He is remembered on panel 10 of the Plymouth Naval Memorial

Chaplain, HMS Orvieto, Royal Navy.
He died on 21 May 1917 at Ewshott. He was 52.
He was the son of the Rev Henry and Elizabeth G Creed of Chedburgh Rectory, Bury St Edmunds
He is buried on the north side of Churchyard of St Mary’s Church, Ewshott

He was educated at Yarmouth Grammar School and Bedford then Christ's College. MA
He was Assistant Master at Bolton Grammar School, and then ordained deacon. He was Curate of Ashington, Sussex, 1889-91,
Curate of Old Shoreham, 1893-4, Chaplain and Master of Hazelwood School, Surrey, 1894-6; at Trinity College, Glenalmond, 1896-1901. Chaplain to the Forces in South Africa, 1901-2. He became a Headmaster then Vicar of Ewshott before being appointed Chaplain in the Navy.
A stained glass window is dedicated to his memory in St Mary’s Church

Chaplain, HMS Pembroke, Royal Navy.
He died on 7 January 1918 at the Naval Hospital, Chatham.
He was the husband of Alicia K Dathan

The Rev Henry Dixon DIXON-WRIGHT MVO
Chaplain, HMS Barham, Royal Navy.
He died on 1 June 1916 from wounds received at the Battle of Jutland. He was 46.
He was the son of Henry Wright of Wallington and the husband of A Louisa Dixon-Wright, 24 Stanley Street, Southsea, Portsmouth
He is buried in grave B 5 Royal Naval Cemetery, Lyness

He died on 9 May 1918.

The Rev George Anthony GREIG
Chaplain, HMS Russell, Royal Navy.
He died in Bighi Hospital on 28 April 1916 as the result of gas poisoning after the ship was mined. He was 28.
He was the son of Hunter Hepburn Greig and Phoebe Jane Greig, Luttrell Avenue, Putney.
He is buried  in plot 44 in the Naval Cemetery, Capuccini, Malta

He is buried in the Old Monk's Sec, St Michael Roman Catholic Churchyard, Belmont Abbey

HMHS Garth Castle was a Naval Hospital Ship which could handle about 250 casualties. At the time of Dermd Ross's death, she was part in the North Russian Expeditionary Force.

Priest 1892, Curate and Precentor of Holy Trinity, Sloane Street, 1891-1907. Vicar of St Dunstans, East Acton 1907-16. He was advised to have a rest and change, so wishing to unite war service with his compulsory holiday, he volunteered for work with the Navy and was appointed to HMS Defence as Naval Chaplain. He served in this ship in the 1st Cruiser Squadron and was present at
the Battle of Jutland, where he was killed.

He died on 31 May 1916 at the Battle of Jutland. He was 37.
