He is buried in grave V O 9 Gordon Dump Cemetery, Ovillers la Boisselle   
Whilst I am reasonably confident that this is the soldier on the memorial, I do not know his birth nor can I spot him in the census.  Any help would be appreciated!

I believe that this is Edgar John Clapp who was born in 1892 and was working in Bristol as a railway porter when he enlisted.  I have Machine Gun Corps Army no 2219 but he appears to have survived the war and died in 1966. In other words, I am stuck!

He died as a consequence of his war service on 2 May 1919. He was discharged on 15 March 1919 as being no longer medically fit for war. He had very poor eyesight and was suffering from Tuberculosis. He was 22

HMS Queen Mary, a battle cruiser, was sunk in action at the Battle of Jutland when she received direct hits from the German ships Seydlitz and Derfflinger and blew up with the loss of 1266 crew with only nine survivors.
