Frank William MARSHALL
Lance Corporal, D Company, 1st Battalion, The Gloucestershire Regiment, 3 Brigade, 1st Division. Army no. 9631
He died from his wounds on 1 November 1914 received in the firstt battle of Ypres. He was 20. 
He was the son of Joseph Marshall of North Newington
He is remembered  on panel  22 and 34 of the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres

Joseph GARDNER
Lance Corporal, 1st Battalion, The Duke of Edinburgh's (Wiltshire Regiment), 7 Brigade, 25th Division. Army no. 19749. He was formerly Private, The Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry. Army no. 13965
He was killed in action on 6 July 1916 in the Battle of Albert. He was 21
He was the son of Edward and Selina Gardner but he lived with his Grandparents, Richard and Sarah in Broughton
He is buried in grave II M 5, Connaught Cemetery, Thiepval

Fred Mead HANCOCK
Lance Corporal, 2nd/1st Worcester Yeomanry (The Queen's Own Worcestershire Hussars). Army no. 2793
He died on 25 June 1915. He was 31
He is buried in the Churchyard of St Mary the Virgin, Broughton

He died from his wounds on 5 October 1915. He was 21. 
He was the son of William and Mary Ada Butler of Broughton.
He is buried in the Churchyard of St Mary the Virgin, Broughton

John William WELBANK

He was killed in action on 11 October 1918. He was 35

Eric Ralph BUSBY
Second Officer, SS Nairung, Merchant Navy
He died on 18 August 1944. He was 24
He was the son of Harold James Busby and Emily Agnes Busby of North Newington.
He is remembered on panel 71  of the Tower Hill Memorial
Additional information
The SS Nairung  was a British Cargo Steamer of 5,414 tons built in 1941 for the Asiatic Steam Navigation Company, London. On the 18 August 1944 when on route to Bombay from Durban with government stores and general cargo she was sunk by German submarine U-862 off the Madagascar coast.
All 91 crew were lost.

Herbert Leslie George DODSON DFM
Flying Officer/Air Gunner, 83 Squadron, Royal Air Force. RAFVR no. 130916
He died on 20 January 1944. He was 25
He was the son of Herbert and Edith A Dodson and the husband of Joan A Dodson of North Newington.
He is buried in grave  5 K 10 of the 1939-1945 War Cemetery,
Berlin
Additional information
Lancaster ND414 OL-K took off at 16.14 from RAF Wyton on an operation to Berlin and is believed to have been hit by flak at 17,000 feet and crashed 14 kms from the city centre. Two of the crew were captured but the rest died, they were:
Sergeant W S Travers, Sergeant J H Gainsborough-Allen, Pilot Officer E Anderson, and Flight Sergeant E R Jacobs.
Herbert Dodson had previously served in the Middle East with 37 Squadron

The Hon. Ingelram Ivo TWISLETON-WYKEHAM-FIENNES
Sergeant, Royal Air Force. RAFVR no. 1169866
He was the son of Ivo M Twisleton-Wykeham-Fiennes, 20th Baron Saye and Sele, and Lady Hersey Cecilia Hester Twisleton-Wykeham-Fiennes, Saye and Sele of Broughton.
He died on 30 August 1941. He was 19
He is remembered on panel  53 of the Runnymede Memorial
Additional information
He was educated at Eton College.
This was a Delivery Flight. Wellington W5559 took off from Gibraltar destined for Malta and was shot down near Lampedusa. The crew who died were:
Sergeant W F Butler, Sergeant T P Butterfield, Sergeant M H Cope, Sergeant D R A Garrick and Sergeant D D Todd and these men are all commemorated on the Malta Memorial

Clement Joseph GARDNER

He died on 13 February 1945. He was 42
He was the son of George and Mary J Gardner of North
Newington.
He is buried in the Churchyard of St Mary the Virgin,  Broughton

As he is buried in Broughton he either died from his wounds or from natural causes

Robert Charles GIBSON

He died in action on 30 January 1944. He was 21
He was the son of Frederick G and Lily M Gibson of Banbury.
He is remembered on panel 230 of the Runnymede Memorial

Lancaster JA924 LQ-R took off from RAF Gransden Lodge at 17.14 hours. The aircraft was shot down at 20,000 feet by a night-fighter shortly after making its attack. Two of the crew survived and were taken prisoner.
Those who died were: Sergeant W R Palmer, Sergeant R C Gibson, Flying Officer A H Ashford, Sergeant J W Walker and Sergeant T Newton

John William HANCOCK

He was killed in action on 23 June 1944 in the fighting around the German defensive position known as the Gustav Line. He was 21

James Norton SOUTHAM

He was murdered by the SS between 27 and 30 May 1940. He was 26

The 29 names below are those of captured soldiers executed at Wormhoudt by the SS, whose bodies were later found, identified, recovered and interred by CWGC, with markers in this cemetery. The remains of the majority of the men murdered by the SS on that day, not all of whom have ever been identified, so chaotic had the retreat become, were disposed of - in many cases after being left for several
days where they were killed - without their identity tags, ceremony or markers, and have no known grave. Their names are listed among the missing of WW2.
